and on behalf of a foreigner—take it as pledge.

²¹An inheritance easily obtained^[a] in the beginning
will not be blessed in the end.

Proverbs 20:21 The translation easily obtained is an alternate Hebrew reading. The main Hebrew reading is gotten by greed.

²¹An inheritance acquired hastily at the beginning^[a]
will not be blessed at its end.
