²¹ For only the godly will live in the land,
    and those with integrity will remain in it.

³² Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord,
    but he offers his friendship to the godly.

³ Honesty guides good people;
    dishonesty destroys treacherous people.

⁶ The godliness of good people rescues them;
    the ambition of treacherous people traps them.

¹¹ Upright citizens are good for a city and make it prosper,
    but the talk of the wicked tears it apart.

⁹ Fools make fun of guilt,
    but the godly acknowledge it and seek reconciliation.

¹¹ The house of the wicked will be destroyed,
    but the tent of the godly will flourish.

⁸ The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked,
    but he delights in the prayers of the upright.

¹⁹ A lazy person’s way is blocked with briers,
    but the path of the upright is an open highway.

¹⁷ The path of the virtuous leads away from evil;
    whoever follows that path is safe.
