⁴ To give ^(A)prudence to the ^[a](B)simple,
To the youth ^(C)knowledge and discretion;

³² For the ^(A)turning away of the simple will kill them,
And the complacency of fools will destroy them.

⁵ O ^(A)simple ones, understand prudence;
And, O ^(B)fools, understand a heart of wisdom.

⁴ “^(A)Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!”
To him who ^(B)lacks a heart of wisdom she says,

^25 (A)Strike a scoffer and the simple may become prudent,
But ^(B)reprove one who has understanding and he will understand knowledge.

¹¹ When the ^(A)scoffer is punished, the simple becomes wise;
And when one considers wisdom, he receives knowledge.

³ A ^(A)prudent man sees evil and hides,
But the simple pass on, and are punished.
