Proverbs 19:7

⁷^(A)All a poor man's brothers hate him;
^(B)how much more do his friends go far from him!
He pursues them with words, but does not have them.^[a]

Proverbs 19:7

International Standard Version

⁷All the relatives of a poor person shun him—
how much more do his friends avoid him!
Though he runs after them pleading,
they aren’t around.

¹⁷^(A)Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord,
and he ^(B)will repay him for his ^(C)deed.

¹⁷Whoever is kind to the poor is lending to the Lord—
the benefit of his gift will return to him in abundance.
