Proverbs 18:11-13

¹¹The wealth of the rich is his fortified city;
in his imagination it is like a high wall.^(A)

¹²Before his downfall a person’s heart is proud,^(B)
but humility comes before honour.^(C)

¹³The one who gives an answer before he listens –
this is foolishness and disgrace for him.^(D)

¹²Before a downfall the heart is haughty,
but humility comes before honor.^(B)

¹³To answer before listening—
that is folly and shame.^(C)

¹¹The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.

¹²Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

¹³He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
