Proverbs 17:4

⁴An evil-doer giveth heed to wicked lips;
And ^[a]a liar giveth ear to a mischievous tongue.

⁴He who does evil listens to lips of wickedness,
and the liar gives heed to the tongue of mischief.

¹¹^[a]An evil man seeketh only rebellion;
Therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

¹¹An evil person will seek only rebellion,
and a cruel messenger will be sent against him.

²³A wicked man receiveth a bribe out of the bosom,
To pervert the ways of justice.

²³The wicked will accept a bribe from the lap,
in order to pervert the ways of justice.
