²⁶Also to ^[a]punish the righteous is not good,
Nor to smite the noble for their uprightness.

²⁶Also, imposing a fine on the righteous is not good,
nor to flog nobles for uprightness.

⁵To respect the person of the wicked is not good,
^[a]Nor to turn aside the righteous in judgment.

⁵Being partial to faces of evil is not good,
nor to subvert the righteous at the judgment.

⁸The way of him that is laden with guilt is exceeding crooked;
But as for the pure, his work is ^[a]right.

⁸Crooked is the way of a man and a foreigner,
but the pure is upright in his conduct.
