16 The plans of the heart belong to man,
but (A)the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.
2 (B)All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes,
but the Lord (C)weighs the spirit.[a]
3 (D)Commit your work to the Lord,
and your plans will be established.
4 (E)The Lord has made everything for its purpose,
even (F)the wicked for the day of trouble.
5 Everyone who is arrogant in heart is (G)an abomination to the Lord;
(H)be assured, he will not go unpunished.
6 By (I)steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for,
and by (J)the fear of the Lord one (K)turns away from evil.
7 When a man's ways please the Lord,
(L)he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 (M)Better is a little with righteousness
than great revenues with injustice.
9 (N)The heart of man plans his way,
but (O)the Lord establishes his steps.
10 (P)An oracle is on the lips of a king;
his mouth does not sin in judgment.
11 (Q)A just balance and scales are the Lord's;
all the weights in the bag are his work.
12 It is an abomination to kings to do evil,
for (R)the throne is established by righteousness.
13 (S)Righteous lips are the delight of a king,
and he loves him who speaks what is right.
14 (T)A king's wrath is a messenger of death,
and a wise man will (U)appease it.
15 (V)In the light of a king's face there is life,
and his (W)favor is like (X)the clouds that bring the spring rain.
16 (Y)How much better to get wisdom than (Z)gold!
To get understanding is to be chosen rather than (AA)silver.
17 The highway of the upright (AB)turns aside from evil;
whoever guards his way preserves his life.
18 (AC)Pride goes before destruction,
and a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 (AD)It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor
than to (AE)divide the spoil with the proud.
20 Whoever gives thought to the word[b] (AF)will discover good,
and blessed is he (AG)who trusts in the Lord.
21 The wise of heart is called discerning,
and sweetness of speech (AH)increases persuasiveness.
22 Good sense is (AI)a fountain of life to him who has it,
but the instruction of fools is folly.
23 (AJ)The heart of the wise makes his speech judicious
and adds persuasiveness to his lips.
24 (AK)Gracious words are like (AL)a honeycomb,
sweetness to the soul and (AM)health to the body.
25 There is a way that seems right to a man,
but its end is the way to death.[c]
26 A worker's appetite works for him;
his (AN)mouth urges him on.
27 (AO)A worthless man plots evil,
and his speech[d] is like (AP)a scorching fire.
28 (AQ)A dishonest man spreads strife,
and (AR)a whisperer (AS)separates close friends.
29 A man of violence (AT)entices his neighbor
and leads him in a way that is not good.
30 Whoever winks his eyes plans[e] (AU)dishonest things;
he who (AV)purses his lips brings evil to pass.
31 (AW)Gray hair is (AX)a crown of glory;
it (AY)is gained in a righteous life.
32 (AZ)Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
33 (BA)The lot is cast into the lap,
but its every decision is (BB)from the Lord.

pero del SEÑOR es la respuesta

2 Todo camino del hombre es limpio
en su propia opinión,
pero el SEÑOR es el que examina los espíritus.
3 Encomienda al SEÑOR tus obras,
y tus pensamientos serán afirmados.
4 Todo lo ha hecho el SEÑOR para su propio propósito;
y aun al impío para el día malo.
5 Abominación es al SEÑOR todo altivo de corazón;
de ninguna manera quedará impune.
6 Con misericordia y verdad se expía la falta y con el temor del SEÑOR
uno se aparta del mal.
7 Cuando los caminos del hombre le agradan al SEÑOR,
aun a sus enemigos reconciliará con él.
8 Es mejor lo poco con justicia que gran abundancia sin derecho.
9 El corazón del hombre traza su camino, pero el SEÑOR dirige sus pasos.
10 Hay oráculo en los labios del rey;
en el juicio no yerra su boca.
11 La balanza y los platillos justos son del SEÑOR;
obra suya son todas las pesas
de la bolsa.
12 Es abominación a los reyes
hacer impiedad
porque con justicia se afirma el trono.
13 Los reyes favorecen a los labios justos
y aman al que habla lo recto.
14 La ira del rey es como mensajero
de muerte,
pero el hombre sabio la apaciguará.
15 En la alegría del rostro del rey
está la vida;
su favor es como nube de lluvia tardía.
16 Es mejor adquirir sabiduría
que oro fino,
y adquirir inteligencia vale más
que la plata.
17 La vía de los rectos es apartarse del mal,
y el que guarda su camino
guarda su vida.
18 Antes de la quiebra está el orgullo;
y antes de la caída la altivez de espíritu.
19 Mejor es humillar el espíritu
con los humildes
que repartir botín con los soberbios.
20 El que está atento a la palabra hallará el bien,
y el que confía en el SEÑOR es bienaventurado.
21 El sabio de corazón
será llamado entendido,
y la dulzura de labios aumenta el saber.
22 Fuente de vida es el entendimiento
al que lo posee,
pero el castigo de los insensatos
es la misma insensatez.
23 El corazón del sabio hace prudente
su boca,
y con sus labios aumenta el saber.
24 Panal de miel son los dichos
agradables;
son dulces al alma y saludables
al cuerpo.
25 Hay un camino que al hombre le parece derecho,
pero que al final es camino de muerte.
26 El apetito del trabajador es lo que le obliga a trabajar,
porque su boca lo apremia.
27 El hombre indigno trama el mal,
y en sus labios hay como
fuego abrasador.
28 El hombre perverso provoca
la contienda,
y el chismoso aparta
los mejores amigos.
29 El hombre violento persuade
a su amigo
y le hace andar por camino
no bueno.
30 El que entrecierra sus ojos
para planear perversidades,
el que aprieta sus labios, consuma el mal.
31 Corona de honra son las canas;
en el camino de la justicia se encuentra.
32 Es mejor el que tarda en airarse
que el fuerte;
y el que domina su espíritu
que el que conquista una ciudad.
33 Las suertes se echan en el regazo, pero al SEÑOR pertenece
toda su decisión.

(B)But the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.
2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own (C)eyes,
But the Lord weighs the spirits.
5 (G)Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord;
Though they join [d]forces, none will go unpunished.
6 (H)In mercy and truth
Atonement is provided for iniquity;
And (I)by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.
7 When a man’s ways please the Lord,
He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 (J)Better is a little with righteousness,
Than vast revenues without justice.
10 Divination is on the lips of the king;
His mouth must not transgress in judgment.
11 (M)Honest weights and scales are the Lord’s;
All the weights in the bag are His [e]work.
12 It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness,
For (N)a throne is established by righteousness.
13 (O)Righteous lips are the delight of kings,
And they love him who speaks what is right.
14 As messengers of death is the king’s wrath,
But a wise man will (P)appease it.
15 In the light of the king’s face is life,
And his favor is like a (Q)cloud of the latter rain.
16 (R)How much better to get wisdom than gold!
And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil;
He who keeps his way preserves his soul.

19 Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly,
Than to divide the [g]spoil with the proud.
20 He who heeds the word wisely will find good,
And whoever (S)trusts in the Lord, happy is he.
21 The wise in heart will be called prudent,
And sweetness of the lips increases learning.
22 Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it.
But the correction of fools is folly.
23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth,
And adds learning to his lips.
24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
25 There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of (T)death.
26 The person who labors, labors for himself,
For his hungry mouth drives (U)him on.
27 [h]An ungodly man digs up evil,
And it is on his lips like a burning (V)fire.
28 A perverse man sows strife,
And (W)a whisperer separates the best of friends.
29 A violent man entices his neighbor,
And leads him in a way that is not good.
30 He winks his eye to devise perverse things;
He [i]purses his lips and brings about evil.
31 (X)The silver-haired head is a crown of glory,
If it is found in the way of righteousness.
32 (Y)He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
33 The lot is cast into the lap,
But its every decision is from the Lord.

26 The appetite of laborers works for them;
their hunger drives them on.
