Proverbs 16:4-6
Contemporary English Version
4 The Lord has a reason
for everything he does,
and he lets evil people live
only to be punished.
5 The Lord doesn't like
anyone who is conceited—
you can be sure
they will be punished.
6 (A) If we truly love God,
our sins will be forgiven;
if we show him respect,
we will keep away from sin.

4 (A)The Lord has made everything for its purpose,
even (B)the wicked for the day of trouble.
5 Everyone who is arrogant in heart is (C)an abomination to the Lord;
(D)be assured, he will not go unpunished.
6 By (E)steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for,
and by (F)the fear of the Lord one (G)turns away from evil.
