²⁷ A ^(A)worthless man digs up evil,
While ^[a]his words are like ^(B)scorching fire.
²⁸ A perverse man spreads strife,
And a slanderer separates intimate friends.
²⁹ A man of violence ^(C)entices his neighbor
And leads him in a way that is not good.
³⁰ He who winks his eyes does so to devise perverse things;
He who compresses his lips brings evil to pass.

⁴ An ^(A)evildoer listens to wicked lips;
A ^[a]liar pays attention to a destructive tongue.

⁹ He who ^(A)conceals a transgression seeks love,
But he who repeats a matter ^(B)separates intimate friends.

¹⁹ He who ^(A)loves transgression loves strife;
He who ^(B)raises his door seeks destruction.
²⁰ He who has a crooked ^[a]mind ^(C)finds no good,
And he who is ^(D)perverted in his language falls into evil.

²⁴ Wisdom is in the presence of the one who has understanding,
But the ^(A)eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.

18 He who separates himself seeks his own desire,
He ^[a](A)quarrels against all sound wisdom.
² A fool does not delight in understanding,
But only ^(B)in revealing his own ^[b]mind.

²³ The ^(A)poor man utters supplications,
But the ^(B)rich man ^(C)answers roughly.

^4 (A)Wealth adds many friends,
But a poor man is separated from his friend.

^6 (A)Many will seek the favor of a ^[a]generous man,
And every man is a friend to him who ^(B)gives gifts.
