how much more the human heart!

but the Lord weighs motives.

³ The crucible is for refining silver and the smelter for gold,
but the one who purifies hearts ⌞by fire⌟ is the Lord.

¹¹ Even a child makes himself known by his actions,
whether his deeds are pure or right.

²⁷ A person’s soul is the Lord’s lamp.
It searches his entire innermost being.

² A person thinks everything he does is right,
but the Lord weighs hearts.

¹⁹ As a face is reflected in water,
so a person is reflected by his heart.
