²⁸A large population is a king’s glory,
but a shortage of people is a ruler’s ruin.

³⁴Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin is a disgrace to any people.^(A)

³⁵A king favors a wise servant,^(B)
but his anger falls on a disgraceful one.

³⁴Righteousness makes a nation great,
but sin diminishes^[a] any people.

³⁵The king approves the wise servant,
but he is angry at anyone who acts shamefully.
