²³ There is profit in all hard work,

but trouble accompanies the income of the wicked.

⁷ When a man’s ways please the Lord,

²⁶ A worker’s appetite works for him
because his hunger^[a] urges him on.

² A wise servant will rule over a disgraceful son
and share an inheritance among brothers.

¹⁷ Kindness to the poor is a loan to the Lord,^(A)
and He will give a reward to the lender.^[a](B)

¹³ Don’t love sleep, or you will become poor;
open your eyes, and you’ll have enough to eat.^(A)

⁴ The result of humility is fear of the Lord,
along with wealth, honor, and life.^(A)

²⁷ Complete your outdoor work, and prepare your field;^(A)
afterward, build your house.
