²⁴ He who ^(A)holds back his ^[a]rod hates his son,
But he who loves him ^[b](B)disciplines him diligently.

14 The ^[a](A)wise woman builds her house,
But the woman of folly tears it down with her own hands.

^6 [a](A)Grandchildren are the crown of old men,
And the ^(B)beauty of sons is their fathers.

^13 (A)Do not withhold discipline from the child,
Although you ^[a]strike him with the rod, he will not die.
¹⁴ You shall ^[b]strike him with the rod
And ^(B)deliver his soul from Sheol.

¹⁵ The ^(A)rod and reproof give wisdom,
But a child ^[a]left to himself ^(B)brings shame to his mother.

^17 (A)Discipline your son, and he will give you rest;
And he will ^(B)give delight to your soul.
