The Voice
13 A wise child is attentive to his parents’ instruction,
but the mocker is deaf to correction.
2 A person eats well when he speaks wisely,
but the treacherous crave violence.
3 Those who guard their speech insure they will take another breath,
but those who talk without thinking guarantee their demise.
4 Slackers crave but have their fill of nothing,
but the hardworking desire and are completely satisfied.
5 The right-living will not tolerate any lie,
but wrongdoers come to shame and embarrassment.
6 Doing right keeps the innocent on the path of life,
but doing wrong is the downfall of the wicked.
7 One pretends he is wealthy but has nothing,
while another seems to be poor but has great wealth.
8 The rich are targeted and must ransom their lives,
but no one bothers to threaten the poor.
9 The light of the right-living brings joy as it burns brightly;
the lamp of a wrongdoer will be snuffed out.
10 Arrogance only produces arguments,
but wisdom accompanies those well advised.
11 Money earned hastily is easily lost,
but hard-earned money continues to grow.
12 Hope postponed grieves the heart;
but when a dream comes true, life is full and sweet.
13 The one who hates good counsel will reap failure and ruin,
but the one who reveres God’s instruction will be rewarded.
14 Wise instruction is a spring yielding a satisfied life;
those who follow it avoid the traps that lead to death.
15 Good sense brings blessing,
but the road of the treacherous is long and rough.
16 A clever person acquires knowledge and then acts on it;
but a fool advertises his folly for all to see.
17 An untrustworthy messenger stirs up trouble,
but a faithful emissary is curative balm.
18 A person who turns from correction faces poverty and shame,
but one who regards constructive criticism is well respected.
19 A dream fulfilled is the sweetness of life,
but abandoning evil is repulsive to fools.
20 One who walks with the wise becomes wise,
but whoever keeps company with fools only hurts himself.
21 Trouble eagerly pursues the sinner,
but success rewards the right-living.
22 A good person leaves an inheritance for his grandchildren,
but the wealth of the sinner is eventually passed on to the right-living.
23 Though the fields of the poor yield a bumper crop
in a land without justice, it is stolen out from under them.
24 Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children,
but those who are quick to correct them show true love.
25 Those who do right have plenty to eat,
while those who do wrong go hungry.

13 A wise son heeds his father’s instruction,
but a mocker does not respond to rebukes.(A)
2 From the fruit of their lips people enjoy good things,(B)
but the unfaithful have an appetite for violence.
3 Those who guard their lips(C) preserve their lives,(D)
but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.(E)
4 A sluggard’s appetite is never filled,(F)
but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.
5 The righteous hate what is false,(G)
but the wicked make themselves a stench
and bring shame on themselves.
6 Righteousness guards the person of integrity,
but wickedness overthrows the sinner.(H)
7 One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing;(I)
another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.(J)
8 A person’s riches may ransom their life,
but the poor cannot respond to threatening rebukes.(K)
9 The light of the righteous shines brightly,
but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.(L)
10 Where there is strife, there is pride,
but wisdom is found in those who take advice.(M)
11 Dishonest money dwindles away,(N)
but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.
12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.(O)
15 Good judgment wins favor,
but the way of the unfaithful leads to their destruction.[a]
18 Whoever disregards discipline comes to poverty and shame,(Y)
but whoever heeds correction is honored.(Z)
19 A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul,(AA)
but fools detest turning from evil.
20 Walk with the wise and become wise,
for a companion of fools suffers harm.(AB)
22 A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children,
but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.(AF)
23 An unplowed field produces food for the poor,
but injustice sweeps it away.
24 Whoever spares the rod(AG) hates their children,
but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline(AH) them.(AI)
25 The righteous eat to their hearts’ content,
but the stomach of the wicked goes hungry.(AJ)

13 Ang anak na may unawa'y nakikinig sa kanyang ama,
ngunit walang halaga sa palalo ang paalala sa kanya.
2 Natatamo ng mabuti ang bunga ng kanyang kabaitan,
ngunit ang ninanasa ng masama ay puro karahasan.
3 Ang(A) maingat magsalita ay nag-iingat ng kanyang buhay,
ngunit ang taong madaldal ay nasasadlak sa kapahamakan.
4 Ang tamad ay nangangarap ngunit hindi natutupad,
ang hangarin ng masikap ay laging nagaganap.
5 Ang taong matuwid ay namumuhi sa kasinungalingan,
ngunit ang salita ng masama ay nakakahiyang pakinggan.
6 Ang mabuti'y iniingatan ng kanyang katuwiran,
ngunit ang masama'y ipinapahamak ng likong pamumuhay.
7 May taong nagkukunwang mayaman subalit wala naman,
ngunit ang iba'y nag-aayos mahirap bagaman sila ay mayaman.
8 Ang yaman ng isang tao ay pantubos sa kanyang buhay,
ngunit sa isang mahirap ito ay hindi nakababahala.
9 Ang matuwid ay tulad ng maningning na ilaw,
ngunit ang masama ay lamparang namamatay.
10 Ang kapalaluan ay nagbubunga ng kaguluhan,
ngunit ang pakikinig sa payo'y nagbabadya ng karunungan.
11 Ang kayamanang tinamo sa daya ay madaling nawawala,
ngunit ang kayamanang pinaghirapan ay pinagpapala.
12 Ang matagal na paghihintay ay nagpapahina ng kalooban,
ngunit ang pangarap na natupad ay may dulot na kasiyahan.
13 Ang nagwawalang-bahala sa payo ay hahantong sa sariling kapahamakan,
ngunit ang nagpapahalaga sa utos ay gagantimpalaan.
14 Ang mga turo ng matalino ay bukal ng buhay,
ito ay maglalayo sa bitag ng kamatayan.
15 Ang katalinuhan ay umaani ng paggalang,
ngunit ang kataksilan ay naghahatid sa kapahamakan.
16 Ang katalinuhan ng isang tao'y nakikita sa kanyang gawa,
sa kilos ay nakikilala ang taong walang unawa.
17 Ang masamang tagapagbalita ay lumilikha ng kaguluhan,

18 Kahihiyan ang kasasadlakan ng hindi nakikinig sa saway,
ngunit ang tumatanggap ng payo ay mag-aani ng karangalan.
19 Ang pangarap na natupad ay may dulot na ligaya,
ngunit ayaw iwan ng masama ang kasamaan niya.
20 Ang(B) nakikisama sa may unawa ay magiging matalino,
ngunit ang kasama ng mangmang ay masusuong sa gulo.
21 Ang hinaharap ng masama ay kahirapan sa buhay,
ngunit sagana ang pagpapalang sa matuwid ay naghihintay.
22 Ang matuwid ay nag-iiwan ng pamana hanggang sa kaapu-apuhan,
at sa matuwid nauuwi ang naipon ng isang makasalanan.
23 Ang bukid ng mahihirap, may pangakong kasaganaan,
ngunit ito'y nasasayang dahil sa kawalan ng katarungan.
24 Mapagmahal na magulang, anak ay dinidisiplina,
anak na di napapalo, hindi mahal ng magulang.
25 Ang matuwid ay sagana sa lahat ng kailangan,
ngunit ang masama ay palagi namang nagkukulang.
