^23 (A)Much food is in the ^[a]fallow ground of the poor,
And for lack of justice there is ^[b]waste.

^31 (A)He who oppresses the poor reproaches ^(B)his Maker,
But he who honors Him has mercy on the needy.

¹⁵ All the days of the afflicted are evil,
^(A)But he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast.

^8 (A)Better is a little with righteousness,
Than vast revenues without justice.

¹⁶ He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches,
And he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty.

²² Do not rob the ^(A)poor because he is poor,
Nor oppress the afflicted at the gate;
^23 (B)For the Lord will plead their cause,
And plunder the soul of those who plunder them.

⁷ The righteous ^(A)considers the cause of the poor,
But the wicked does not understand such knowledge.

^3 (A)A poor man who oppresses the poor
Is like a driving rain ^[a]which leaves no food.

¹³ The poor man and the oppressor have this in common:
^(A)The Lord gives light to the eyes of both.
