12 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but one who hates correction is stupid.(A)

One who is good obtains favour from the Lord,(B)
but he condemns a person who schemes.(C)

No one can be made secure by wickedness,
but the root of the righteous is immovable.(D)

but a wife who causes shame

The thoughts of the righteous are just,
but guidance from the wicked is deceitful.

The words of the wicked are a deadly ambush,(G)

A man is praised for his insight,
but a twisted mind is despised.

Better to be disregarded, yet have a servant,

Maar een vrouw die hem voor schut zet, is als een ziekte in zijn botten.

Goede mensen bedenken alleen eerlijke en rechtvaardige dingen.

De woorden van slechte mensen zijn dodelijk.
Maar de woorden van eerlijke mensen brengen redding.

Slechte mensen komen ten val en zijn er niet meer.
Maar de familie van goede mensen zal altijd blijven bestaan.

Hoe verstandiger een mens is, hoe meer hij wordt geprezen.
Maar een dwaas mens wordt geminacht.

Het is beter om niet rijk te zijn en maar één knecht te hebben,
dan te doen alsof je heel rijk bent terwijl je nauwelijks iets te eten hebt.

10 Goede mensen weten hoe ze voor hun vee moeten zorgen.
Slechte mensen zijn alleen maar wreed.

11 Als je op je akker werkt, zul je voldoende te eten hebben.
Maar als je met nietsnutten omgaat, heb je geen verstand.

12 Slechte mensen zijn jaloers op de rijkdom van andere slechte mensen.
Maar alleen wat goede mensen doen, levert werkelijk iets op.

13 Een leugenaar loopt door zijn eigen leugens in de val.
Maar een goed mens wordt uit zijn moeilijkheden gered.

14 Als je goede dingen zegt, zal het daardoor met jezelf ook goed gaan.
