⁷ Stay away from fools,
because they ·can’t teach you anything [^Ldon’t have knowledgeable lips].

¹⁷ A friend loves you all the time,
and a brother ·helps in [^Lis born for a] time of trouble.

²⁴ Some friends may ruin you,
but a real friend will ·be more loyal [cling closer] than a brother.

24 Don’t envy evil people
    or ·try to be friends [^Llong to be] with them.

    and ·they always [^Ltheir lips] talk about making trouble [Ps. 37; 73].

    or it will make you full and you will throw up.

⁹ The sweet smell of perfume and oils is pleasant,
and so is good advice from a friend.

A neighbor close by is better than a ·family [brother] far away.
