² When ^(A)arrogance comes, then comes disgrace,
But with the meek is wisdom.

⁹ Better is he who is lightly esteemed and has a servant
Than he who honors himself and lacks bread.

¹⁰ With arrogance ^[a]comes only quarreling,
But with those who receive counsel is wisdom.

²⁵ Yahweh will ^(A)tear down the house of the proud,
But He will ^(B)cause the boundary of the ^(C)widow to stand.

³³ The ^[a]fear of Yahweh is the discipline ^[b]leading to wisdom,
And before glory comes humility.

⁵ Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to Yahweh;
Assuredly, he will not be unpunished.

^18 (A)Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before stumbling.
¹⁹ It is better to be ^(B)humble in spirit with the lowly
Than to ^(C)divide the spoil with the proud.

^12 (A)Before destruction the heart of man is haughty,
But ^(B)humility goes before glory.
