²Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation) delivers from death.

¹⁶Better is little, with the fear of Yahweh,
than great treasure with trouble.

¹⁶Better is little with the reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord than great and rich treasure and trouble with it.^(A)

⁶Getting treasures by a lying tongue
is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death.

⁶Securing treasures by a lying tongue is a vapor driven to and fro; those who seek them seek death.

²⁰There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise;
but a foolish man swallows it up.

²⁰There are precious treasures and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a self-confident and foolish man swallows it up and wastes it.
