³ You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, in order to spend what you get on your pleasures.^(A)

¹³ Just as, when I^[a] called, they would not hear, so, when they called, I would not hear, says the Lord of hosts,^(A)

¹¹ Therefore, thus says the Lord, assuredly I am going to bring disaster upon them that they cannot escape; though they cry out to me, I will not listen to them.^(A)

¹⁰ And while they went to buy it, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went with him into the wedding banquet, and the door was shut.^{(A) 11} Later the other young women^[a] came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’^{(B) 12} But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I do not know you.’

¹² Although they fast, I do not hear their cry, and although they offer burnt offering and grain offering, I do not accept them, but by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence I consume them.^(A)
