²⁶For by means of a harlot a man is reduced to a piece of bread,
and the adulteress will prey upon his precious life.

²⁶For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread:
and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.

²⁶For a prostitute can be had for a loaf of bread,
but another man’s wife preys on your very life.^(A)

²⁰Such is the way of an adulterous woman;
she eats and wipes her mouth,
and says, “I have done no wickedness.”

²⁰Such is the way of an adulterous woman;
she eateth, and wipeth her mouth,
and saith, I have done no wickedness.

²⁰“This is the way of an adulterous woman:
She eats and wipes her mouth
and says, ‘I’ve done nothing wrong.’^(A)
