¹⁶ These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to ^[a]Him:
^17 (A)A^[b] proud look,
^(B)A lying tongue,
^(C)Hands that shed innocent blood,
^18 (D)A heart that devises wicked plans,
^(E)Feet that are swift in running to evil,
^19 (F)A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who ^(G)sows discord among brethren.

^17 (A)He who speaks truth declares righteousness,
But a false witness, deceit.

⁵ A ^(A)faithful witness does not lie,
But a false witness will utter ^(B)lies.

²⁵ A true witness ^[a]delivers ^(A)souls,
But a deceitful witness speaks lies.

⁵ A ^(A)false witness will not go unpunished,
And he who speaks lies will not escape.
