¹⁶ There are six things the Lord hates,^(A)
    seven that are detestable to him:
¹⁷         haughty eyes,^(B)
        a lying tongue,^(C)
        hands that shed innocent blood,^(D)
18         a heart that devises wicked schemes,
        feet that are quick to rush into evil,^(E)
19         a false witness^(F) who pours out lies^(G)
        and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.^(H)

³¹ From the mouth of the righteous comes the fruit of wisdom,^(A)
    but a perverse tongue^(B) will be silenced.

¹⁹ Truthful lips endure forever,
    but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.

²⁰ Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil,
    but those who promote peace have joy.^(A)

²¹ No harm overtakes the righteous,^(B)
    but the wicked have their fill of trouble.

²² The Lord detests lying lips,^(C)
    but he delights^(D) in people who are trustworthy.^(E)

⁵ The righteous hate what is false,^(A)
    but the wicked make themselves a stench
    and bring shame on themselves.
