³¹ Don’t envy violent people
    or choose any of their ways.
³² Devious people are detestable to the Lord,
    but the virtuous are his close friends.
³³ The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked,
    but he blesses the home of the righteous.

¹⁴ Don’t go on the way of the wicked;
    don’t walk on the path of evil people.
¹⁵ Avoid it! Don’t turn onto it;
    stay off of it and keep going!
¹⁶ They don’t sleep unless they do evil;
    they are robbed of sleep unless they make someone stumble.
¹⁷ They eat the bread of evil,
    and they drink the wine of violence.
¹⁸ The way of the righteous is like morning light
    that gets brighter and brighter till it is full day.
¹⁹ The path of the wicked is like deep darkness;
    they don’t know where they will stumble.

¹² Worthless people and guilty people
    go around with crooked talk.
¹³ They wink their eyes, gesture with their feet,
    and point with their fingers.
¹⁴ Their hearts are corrupt and determined to do evil;
    they create controversies all the time.
¹⁵ Therefore, sudden disaster will come upon them;
    they will be quickly broken beyond healing.

⁶ Blessings cover the head of the righteous,
    but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
⁷ The memory of the righteous is a blessing,
    but the name of the wicked rots.

²⁴ What the wicked dread will come on them,
    but what the righteous desire will be given to them.
²⁵ After a whirlwind passes by, the wicked are no more,
    but the righteous stand firm forever.
²⁶ Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
    so are lazy people to those who authorize them.
²⁷ The fear of the Lord increases one’s life,
    but the years of the wicked will be cut short.
²⁸ The expectations of the righteous result in joy,
    but the hopes of the wicked will perish.
²⁹ The path of the Lord is a refuge for the innocent
    and ruin for those who do evil.
³⁰ The righteous will never be shaken,
    but the wicked won’t dwell in the land.
