Proverbs 29:17-19

International Standard Version

¹⁷Correct your son and he will comfort you;
he will also delight your soul.

¹⁸Without prophetic vision, people abandon restraint,
but those who obey the Law are happy.

¹⁹By mere words a servant will not be corrected;
even though he understands,
there will be no response.

¹⁷Discipline your children, and they will give you peace;
they will bring you the delights you desire.^(A)

¹⁸Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint;
but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.^(B)
