Proverbs 29:17-19

¹⁷Correct your child, and you will be proud of him.
He will give you pleasure.

¹⁸Where there is no word from God, people are uncontrolled.
But those who obey what they have been taught are happy.

¹⁹Words alone cannot correct a servant.
Even if he understands, he won’t respond.

Proverbs 29:17-19

¹⁷Discipline your children, and they will give you peace;
they will bring you the delights you desire.^(A)

¹⁸Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint;
but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.^(B)

¹⁹Servants cannot be corrected by mere words;
though they understand, they will not respond.
