Correct your son, and he will give you comfort;
Yes, he will delight your soul.

Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained;
But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God].(A)

A servant will not be corrected by words alone;
For though he understands, he will not respond [nor pay attention].

17 Discipline your children, and they will give you peace;
they will bring you the delights you desire.(A)
18 Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint;
but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.(B)

though they understand, they will not respond.
