    but when the wicked perish, the righteous thrive.

² When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice;^(A)
    when the wicked rule,^(B) the people groan.^(C)

¹⁶ When the wicked thrive, so does sin,
    but the righteous will see their downfall.^(A)

²⁷ The righteous detest the dishonest;
    the wicked detest the upright.^(A)

⁹ Whoever walks in integrity^(A) walks securely,^(B)
    but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.^(C)

⁶ Righteousness guards the person of integrity,
    but wickedness overthrows the sinner.^(A)
