Proverbs 22:5-7 International Standard Version (ISV)

Thorns and snares lie in the path of the perverse person,
but whoever is cautious stays far away from them.

Train a child in the way appropriate for him,
and when he becomes older, he will not turn from it.

The wealthy rule over the poor,
and anyone who borrows is a slave to the lender.

Proverbs 22:5-7 New International Version (NIV)

In the paths of the wicked are snares and pitfalls,
but those who would preserve their life stay far from them.

Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

The rich rule over the poor,
and the borrower is slave to the lender.
