^2 (A)Make your ear attentive to wisdom;
Incline your heart to understanding.
³ For if you cry out for insight,
And ^[a]raise your voice for understanding;
⁴ If you seek her as ^(B)silver
And search for her as for ^(C)hidden treasures;
⁵ Then you will understand the ^(D)fear of the Lord,
And discover the knowledge of God.
⁶ For ^(E)the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
⁷ He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a ^(F)shield to those who walk in integrity,

^5 (A)Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And ^(B)do not lean on your own understanding.

⁶ A scoffer seeks wisdom and finds none,
But knowledge is easy for one who has understanding.

²⁹ One who is ^(A)slow to anger has great understanding;
But one who is ^[a]quick-tempered exalts foolishness.

³³ Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding,
But among fools it is made known.

³² One who ^(A)neglects discipline ^(B)rejects himself,
But one who ^(C)listens to a rebuke acquires ^[a]understanding.

²¹ The ^(A)wise in heart will be called understanding,
And sweetness of ^[a]speech ^(B)increases ^[b]persuasiveness.

¹⁰ A rebuke goes deeper into one who has understanding
Than a hundred blows into a fool.

²⁷ One who ^(A)withholds his words ^[a]has knowledge,
And one who has a ^(B)cool spirit is a person of understanding.
