¹¹ Discretion shall watch over thee;
Understanding shall keep thee:
¹² To deliver thee from the way of ^[a]evil,
From the men that speak perverse things;
¹³ Who forsake the paths of uprightness,
To walk in the ways of darkness;
¹⁴ Who rejoice to do evil,
And delight in the perverseness of ^[b]evil;
¹⁵ Who are crooked in their ways,
And wayward in their paths:
¹⁶ To deliver thee from the strange woman,
Even from the foreigner that ^[c]flattereth with her words;
¹⁷ That forsaketh the ^[d]friend of her youth,
And forgetteth the covenant of her God:
¹⁸ For ^[e]her house inclineth unto death,
And her paths unto ^[f]the dead;
¹⁹ None that go unto her return again,
Neither do they attain unto the paths of life:
²⁰ That thou mayest walk in the way of good men,
And keep the paths of the righteous.
²¹ For the upright shall dwell in the ^[g]land,
And the perfect shall remain in it.
²² But the wicked shall be cut off from the land,
^[h]And the treacherous shall be rooted out of it.

³¹ Envy thou not the man of violence,
And choose none of his ways.
³² For the perverse is an abomination to Jehovah;
But his ^[a]friendship is with the upright.

¹² A worthless person, a man of iniquity,
Is he that walketh with a perverse mouth;
¹³ That winketh with his eyes, that ^[a]speaketh with his feet,
That ^[b]maketh signs with his fingers;
¹⁴ In whose heart is perverseness,
Who deviseth evil continually,
Who ^[c]soweth discord.
¹⁵ Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly;
On a sudden shall he be broken, and that without remedy.

⁶ Blessings are upon the head of the righteous;
But ^[a]violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

¹¹ The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life;
But ^[a]violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
¹² Hatred stirreth up strifes;
But love covereth all transgressions.
¹³ In the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found;
But a rod is for the back of him that is void of ^[b]understanding.

¹⁸ He that hideth hatred is of lying lips;
And he that uttereth a slander is a fool.

¹³ He that goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets;
But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth a matter.

¹⁵ The way of a fool is right in his own eyes;
But he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
¹⁶ A fool’s vexation is ^[a]presently known;
But a prudent man concealeth shame.
¹⁷ He that ^[b]uttereth truth showeth forth righteousness;
But a false witness, deceit.
¹⁸ There is that speaketh rashly like the piercings of a sword;
But the tongue of the wise is health.

¹⁶ Every prudent man worketh with knowledge;
But a fool flaunteth his folly.
