^15 (A)Laziness casts one into a deep sleep,
And ^[a]a lazy ^[b]person will suffer hunger.

²⁴ The ^[a](A)lazy one buries his hand ^(B)in the dish,
But will not even bring it back to his mouth.

⁴ The ^[a](A)lazy one does not plow after the autumn,
So he ^[b]begs during the harvest and has nothing.

^13 (A)Do not love sleep, or you will become poor;
Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with ^[a]food.

⁵ The plans of the ^(A)diligent certainly lead to advantage,
But everyone ^(B)who is in a hurry certainly comes to poverty.

²⁵ The ^(A)desire of the ^[a]lazy one puts him to death,
For his hands refuse to work;

^13 [a]A ^(A)lazy one says, “There is a lion on the road!
A lion is ^[b]in the public square!”
¹⁴ As the door turns on its hinges,
So does a ^(B)lazy one on his bed.
¹⁵ A ^(C)lazy one buries his hand in the dish;
He is weary of bringing it to his mouth again.
¹⁶ A lazy one is ^(D)wiser in his own eyes
Than seven people who can ^[c]give a discreet answer.

^19 (A)One who works his land will ^(B)have plenty of food,
But one who follows empty pursuits will have plenty of poverty.
