⁷When a fool speaks, he is ruining himself; he gets caught in the trap of his own words.

⁸Gossip is so tasty—how we love to swallow it!

⁹A lazy person is as bad as someone who is destructive.

Proverbs 18:7-9

New International Version

⁷The mouths of fools are their undoing,
and their lips are a snare^(A) to their very lives.^(B)

⁸The words of a gossip are like choice morsels;
they go down to the inmost parts.^(C)

⁹One who is slack in his work
is brother to one who destroys.^(D)
