⁴ The words of a man’s mouth are ^(A)deep waters;
^[a]The fountain of wisdom is a flowing brook.

^3 (A)By wisdom a house is built,
And by discernment it is firmly established;

⁷ Wisdom is ^(A)too exalted for an ignorant fool,
He does not open his mouth ^(B)in the gate.

¹⁴ Know that ^(A)wisdom is thus for your soul;
If you find it, then there will be a ^[a](B)future,
And your hope will not be cut off.

²⁶ He who ^(A)trusts in his own heart is a fool,
But he who walks wisely will escape.

²⁴ Four things are small on the earth,
But they are exceedingly wise:
²⁵ The ^(A)ants are not a strong people,
But they prepare their food in the summer;
²⁶ The ^[a](B)shephanim are not a mighty people,
Yet they make their houses in the cliff;
²⁷ The locusts have no king,
Yet all of them go out in ^(C)rank;
²⁸ The lizard you may grasp with the hands,
Yet it is in kings’ palaces.
