Proverbs 18:3-5

Good News Translation

³Sin and shame go together. Lose your honor, and you will get scorn in its place.

⁴A person's words can be a source of wisdom, deep as the ocean, fresh as a flowing stream.

⁵It is not right to favor the guilty and keep the innocent from receiving justice.

Proverbs 18:3-5

New International Version

³When wickedness comes, so does contempt,
and with shame comes reproach.

⁴The words of the mouth are deep waters,^(A)
but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.

⁵It is not good to be partial to the wicked^(B)
and so deprive the innocent of justice.^(C)
