¹³¶ For him that answers a word before he hears, it is folly and reproach unto him.

Proverbs 18:13

New International Version

¹³To answer before listening—
that is folly and shame.^(A)

¹³He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

¹⁷¶ The one who is just is first in his cause, his adversary comes and seeks him out.

¹⁷In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right,
until someone comes forward and cross-examines.

¹⁷He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
