but ·the humble will be honored [humility comes before glory].

but in their ·minds [^Lhearts] they ·blame [rage at] the Lord.

²⁰ Listen to advice and accept correction,
and in the ·end [future] you will be wise.

⁵ People’s ·thoughts [advice; purpose] can be like a deep ·well [^Lwaters],
but someone with understanding can ·find the wisdom there [draw it out].

²⁷ The lamp of the Lord looks deep inside people
and searches through ·their thoughts [^Lall their inner parts].

21 ·The Lord can control a king’s mind as he controls a river [^LThe heart of a king is a canal/stream in the hand of the Lord];
he can ·direct [turn; incline] it as he pleases.

² ·You may believe you are doing right [^LEvery person’s path seems right/straight in their own eyes],
but the Lord ·judges your reasons [^Lweighs your heart].

¹¹ Whoever loves pure ·thoughts [^Lhearts] and kind ·words [^Llips]
will have even the king as a friend.

¹² ·Remember what you are taught [^LBring your heart to discipline/instruction],
·and listen carefully [^Lyour ear] to words of knowledge.

¹¹ ·Save [Rescue; ^TDeliver] those who are being led to their death;
    ·rescue [^Ldon’t restrain yourself from] those who ·are about [^Ltottering off] to be killed.
¹² If you say, “We don’t know anything about this,”
    God, who ·knows what’s in your mind [evaluates motives; ^Lweighs hearts], ·will notice [^Ldoesn’t he know?].
He ·is watching you [protects/guards your life], and he will know.
    He will reward each person for what he has done.
