New International Version

³The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold,^(A)
but the Lord tests the heart.^(B)

³The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts.

¹⁰Behold, I have refined you, but ^(A)not as silver;
I have tested you in the ^(B)furnace of affliction.

¹⁰See, I have refined^(A) you, though not as silver;
I have tested^(B) you in the furnace^(C) of affliction.
