Proverbs 17:26-28

26 It isn't fair
to punish the innocent
and those who do right.
27 It makes a lot of sense
to be a person of few words
and to stay calm.
28 (A) Even fools seem smart
when they are quiet.

New International Version
26 If imposing a fine on the innocent is not good,(A)
surely to flog honest officials is not right.
27 The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint,(B)
and whoever has understanding is even-tempered.(C)
28 Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent,
and discerning if they hold their tongues.(D)
