²⁶¶ It is certainly not good to condemn the just, nor to smite princes for doing that which is upright.

Proverbs 17:26

New International Version

²⁶If imposing a fine on the innocent is not good,^(A)
surely to flog honest officials is not right.

⁵¶ To respect the person of the wicked so that the righteous loses that which is rightfully his is not good.

⁵It is not good to be partial to the wicked^(A)
and so deprive the innocent of justice.^(B)

⁸¶ The way of the perverse man is crooked and strange, but as for the pure, his work is right.

⁸The way of the guilty is devious,^(A)
but the conduct of the innocent is upright.
