One who keeps understanding will ^(A)find good.

^28 [a]Loyalty and ^(A)truth watch over the king,
And he upholds his throne by ^[b]loyalty.

¹⁷ One who ^(A)loves pleasure will become a poor person;
One who loves wine and oil will not become rich.

²¹ One who ^(A)pursues righteousness and loyalty
Finds life, righteousness, and honor.

⁵ Better is ^(A)open rebuke
Than love that is concealed.
⁶ Faithful are the ^(B)wounds of a friend,
But ^[a]deceitful are the ^(C)kisses of an enemy.

^9 (A)Oil and perfume make the heart glad,
And a ^[a]person’s advice is sweet to his friend.
¹⁰ Do not abandon your ^(B)friend or ^(C)your father’s friend,
And do not go to your brother’s house on the day of your disaster;
Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother far away.
