¹⁰ A rebuke entereth deeper into one that hath understanding
Than a hundred stripes into a fool.
^11 [a]An evil man seeketh only rebellion;
Therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

²⁰ Hear counsel, and receive ^[a]instruction,
That thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

²⁷ Cease, my son, to hear instruction
Only to err from the words of knowledge.

² The terror of a king is as the roaring of a lion:
He that ^[a]provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own ^[b]life.

^6 [a]Most men will proclaim every one his own kindness;
But a faithful man who can find?

⁸ A king that sitteth on the throne of judgment
^[a]Scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

¹¹ Even a child maketh himself known by his doings,
Whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

³⁰ Stripes that wound cleanse away evil;
And strokes reach the innermost parts.

21 The king’s heart is in the hand of Jehovah as the watercourses:
He turneth it whithersoever he will.

¹¹ He that loveth ^[a]pureness of heart,
^[b]For the grace of his lips the king will be his friend.
