Proverbs 15:24-30

²⁴^(A)The way of life winds upward for the wise,
That he may ^(B)turn away from ^[a]hell below.

²⁵^(C)The Lord will destroy the house of the proud,
But ^(D)He will establish the boundary of the widow.

²⁶^(E)The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord,
^(F)But the words of the pure are pleasant.

²⁷^(G)He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house,
But he who hates bribes will live.

²⁸The heart of the righteous ^(H)studies how to answer,
But the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.

²⁹^(I)The Lord is far from the wicked,
But ^(J)He hears the prayer of the righteous.

³⁰The light of the eyes rejoices the heart,
And a good report makes the bones ^[b]healthy.

²⁴The path of life leads upward for the prudent
to keep them from going down to the realm of the dead.

²⁵The Lord tears down the house of the proud,^(A)
but he sets the widow’s boundary stones in place.^(B)

²⁶The Lord detests the thoughts^(C) of the wicked,^(D)
but gracious words are pure^(E) in his sight.

²⁷The greedy bring ruin to their households,
but the one who hates bribes will live.^(F)

²⁸The heart of the righteous weighs its answers,^(G)
but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.^(H)
