¹¹ Sheol^[a] and Abaddon are before Yahweh—
    how much more then the hearts of the children of men!

² All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes;
    but Yahweh weighs the motives.

³ The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold,
    but Yahweh tests the hearts.

¹¹ Even a child makes himself known by his doings,
    whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.

²⁷ The spirit of man is Yahweh’s lamp,
    searching all his innermost parts.

² Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
    but Yahweh weighs the hearts.

¹⁹ Like water reflects a face,
    so a man’s heart reflects the man.
