³⁴ Righteousness exalts a nation,
    but sin is a reproach to any people.^(A)

⁶ In the house of the righteous there is much treasure,
    but trouble befalls the income of the wicked.

⁹ The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
    but he loves the one who pursues righteousness.^(A)

⁷ When the ways of people please the Lord,
    he causes even their enemies to be at peace with them.^(A)

¹³ Evil will not depart from the house
    of one who returns evil for good.^(A)

³ When wickedness comes, contempt comes also,
    and with dishonor comes disgrace.

³ One’s own folly leads to ruin,
    yet the heart rages against the Lord.^(A)

¹⁹ A violent-tempered person will pay the penalty;
    if you effect a rescue, you will only have to do it again.^[a]

²⁹ Punishments are prepared for scoffers
    and flogging for the backs of fools.^(A)

⁷ The righteous walk in integrity—
    happy are the children who follow them!^(A)
