But one who is gracious to the needy honors Him.

¹⁵ All the days of the ^[a]needy are bad,
But a ^[b]cheerful heart has a continual feast.

⁸ Better is a little with righteousness
Than great income with injustice.

¹⁶ One ^(A)who oppresses the poor to make ^[a]more for himself,
Or gives to the rich, ^(B)will only come to poverty.

⁷ The ^(A)righteous ^[a]is concerned for the rights of the poor;
The wicked does not understand such ^[b]concern.

³ A ^(A)poor man who oppresses the helpless
Is like a driving rain ^[a]which leaves no food.

¹³ The ^(A)poor person and the oppressor ^[a]have this in common:
The Lord gives ^(B)light to the eyes of both.
