¹⁹ Desire realized is pleasant to the soul,
But it is an abomination to fools to turn away from evil.

But the friend of fools will suffer harm.

As you have not known lips of knowledge there.
⁸ The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way,
But ^(B)the folly of fools is deceit.
⁹ Ignorant fools scoff at guilt,
But ^(C)among the upright there is favor.

¹⁶ A wise man fears and ^(A)turns away from evil,
But a fool gets angry and feels secure.
¹⁷ A quick-tempered man acts in folly,
And a man of evil schemes is hated.
¹⁸ The simple inherit folly,
But the prudent are ^[a]crowned with knowledge.

²⁹ He who is ^(A)slow to anger has great discernment,
But he who is ^[a]quick-tempered raises up folly.

⁵ An ignorant fool spurns his father’s discipline,
But he who keeps reproof is prudent.

¹⁴ The ^(A)heart of the one who has understanding seeks knowledge,
But the mouth of fools feeds on folly.

¹⁰ A rebuke goes deeper into one who understands
Than a hundred blows into a fool.

¹⁶ Why is there a price in the hand of a fool to ^(A)acquire wisdom,
When ^[a]he has no heart of wisdom?

²⁴ Wisdom is in the presence of the one who understands,
But the ^(A)eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.

²⁸ Even an ignorant fool, when he ^(A)keeps silent, is considered wise;
When he closes his lips, he is considered understanding.
