¹⁶ A gracious woman retaineth honour:
    and strong men retain riches.

¹⁷ The merciful man doeth good to his own soul:
    but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

¹⁰ A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast:
    but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

²³ The poor useth intreaties;
    but the rich answereth roughly.

¹⁷ He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord;
    and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

¹⁰ The soul of the wicked desireth evil:
    his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.

¹³ He that covereth his sins shall not prosper:
but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
