10 The proverbs of (A)Solomon:

(B)A wise son makes a glad father,
But a foolish son is the grief of his mother.

(C)Treasures of wickedness profit nothing,
(D)But righteousness delivers from death.
(E)The Lord will not allow the righteous soul to famish,
But He casts away the desire of the wicked.

(F)He who has a slack hand becomes poor,
But (G)the hand of the diligent makes rich.
He who gathers in (H)summer is a wise son;
He who sleeps in harvest is (I)a son who causes shame.

Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
(J)The memory of the righteous is blessed,
But the name of the wicked will rot.

The wise in heart will receive commands,
(K)But [a]a prating fool will [b]fall.

(L)He who walks with integrity walks securely,
But he who perverts his ways will become known.

10 He who winks with the eye causes trouble,
But a prating fool will fall.

11 The mouth of the righteous is a well of life,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

12 Hatred stirs up strife,
But (M)love covers all sins.

13 Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding,
But (N)a rod is for the back of him who [c]is devoid of understanding.

14 Wise people store up knowledge,
But (O)the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

15 The (P)rich man’s wealth is his strong city;
The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

16 The labor of the righteous leads to (Q)life,
The wages of the wicked to sin.

17 He who keeps instruction is in the way of life,
But he who refuses correction [d]goes astray.

18 Whoever (R)hides hatred has lying lips,
And (S)whoever spreads slander is a fool.

19 (T)In the multitude of words sin is not lacking,
But (U)he who restrains his lips is wise.
20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
The heart of the wicked is worth little.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many,
But fools die for lack of [e]wisdom.

22 (V)The blessing of the Lord makes one rich,
And He adds no sorrow with it.

23 (W)To do evil is like sport to a fool,
But a man of understanding has wisdom.
24 (X)The fear of the wicked will come upon him,
And (Y)the desire of the righteous will be granted.
25 When the whirlwind passes by, (Z)the wicked is no more,
But (AA)the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

26 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
So is the lazy man to those who send him.

27 (AB)The fear of the Lord prolongs days,
But (AC)the years of the wicked will be shortened.
28 The hope of the righteous will be gladness,
But the (AD)expectation of the wicked will perish.
29 The way of the Lord is strength for the upright,
But (AE)destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.

30 (AF)The righteous will never be removed,
But the wicked will not inhabit the [f]earth.
31 (AG)The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom,
But the perverse tongue will be cut out.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.

Otzarot resha profit nothing, but tzedakah (righteousness) saveth from mavet.

Hashem will not suffer the nefesh of the tzaddik to famish, but He thwarteth the craving of the resha’im.

He becometh poor that dealeth with a negligent palm, but the yad of the diligent maketh wealth.

He that gathereth in kayitz is a ben maskil (son of wisdom), but he that sleepeth in katzir (harvest) is a ben that causeth shame.

Brakhot are upon the head of the tzaddik, but chamas covereth the peh (mouth) of the resha’im.

The memory of the tzaddik is as bracha, but the shem resha’im shall rot.

The chacham lev will receive mitzvot, but one with foolish sfatayim (lips) shall be thrust down.

He that walketh uprightly walketh securely, but he that perverteth his drakhim shall be known.

10 He that winketh with the ayin causeth trouble, but one with foolish sfatayim shall come to ruin.

11 The peh (mouth) of a tzaddik is a Makor Chayyim, but chamas covereth the peh (mouth) of the resha’im.

12 Sin’ah (hatred) stirreth up medanim (dissensions), but ahavah covereth all peysha’im.

13 In the sfatayim (lips) of him that hath understanding chochmah is found, but a shevet (rod) is for the back of him that is devoid of lev [understanding].

14 Chachamim treasure up da’as (knowledge); but the peh (mouth) of the foolish is near destruction.

15 The oisher’s wealth is his strong city; the destruction of the poor ones is their poverty.

16 The wage of the tzaddik leadeth to Chayyim; the wage of the rashah is for chattat [Ro 6:23].

17 He is in the orach (path) of Chayyim that is shomer over musar, but he that abandoneth tokhakhat (reproof) goes astray.

18 He that hideth sin’ah with sfatayim sheker, and he that uttereth a slander, is a kesil (fool).

19 In the multitude of devarim there wanteth not sin, but he that restraineth his sfatayim (lips) is maskil (wise).

20 The lashon of the tzaddik is as choice kesef; the lev of the resha’im is of little worth.

21 The sfatayim (lips) of the tzaddik feed rabbim (many), but fools die for lack of lev [of chochmah].

22 The Birkat Hashem, it maketh wealthy, and He addeth no sorrow with it.

23 It is as sport to a kesil to do zimmah (evil design), but an ish tevunah (man of understanding) hath chochmah.

24 What the rashah dreads, it shall come upon him, but the ta’avat tzaddikim shall be granted.

25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the rashah no more, but the tzaddik is a yesod olam (an everlasting foundation).

26 As chometz to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the atzel (sluggard, lazy one) to them that send him.

27 The Yirat Hashem prolongeth yamim; but the shanot of the resha’im shall be cut short.

28 The prospect of the tzaddikim shall be simchah, but the tikveh of the resha’im shall perish.

29 The Derech Hashem is maoz to the blameless, but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

30 The tzaddik shall never be removed, but the resha’im shall not inhabit Eretz.

31 The peh (mouth) of the tzaddik bringeth forth chochmah, but the lashon tahpukhot (tongue of perversion, distortion) shall be cut off.

32 The sfatayim (lips) of the tzaddik know what is ratzon (acceptable), but the peh (mouth) of the resha’im speaketh tahpukhot (perversity).

El hijo sabio alegra al padre,

Pero el hijo necio es tristeza de su madre.

Los tesoros de maldad no serán de provecho;

Mas la justicia libra de muerte.

Jehová no dejará padecer hambre al justo;

Mas la iniquidad lanzará a los impíos.

La mano negligente empobrece;

Mas la mano de los diligentes enriquece.

El que recoge en el verano es hombre entendido;

El que duerme en el tiempo de la siega es hijo que avergüenza.

Hay bendiciones sobre la cabeza del justo;

Pero violencia cubrirá la boca de los impíos.

La memoria del justo será bendita;

Mas el nombre de los impíos se pudrirá.

El sabio de corazón recibirá los mandamientos;

Mas el necio de labios caerá.

El que camina en integridad anda confiado;

Mas el que pervierte sus caminos será quebrantado.

10 El que guiña el ojo acarrea tristeza;

Y el necio de labios será castigado.

11 Manantial de vida es la boca del justo;

Pero violencia cubrirá la boca de los impíos.

12 El odio despierta rencillas;

Pero el amor cubrirá todas las faltas.(A)

13 En los labios del prudente se halla sabiduría;

Mas la vara es para las espaldas del falto de cordura.

14 Los sabios guardan la sabiduría;

Mas la boca del necio es calamidad cercana.

15 Las riquezas del rico son su ciudad fortificada;

Y el desmayo de los pobres es su pobreza.

16 La obra del justo es para vida;

Mas el fruto del impío es para pecado.

17 Camino a la vida es guardar la instrucción;

Pero quien desecha la reprensión, yerra.

18 El que encubre el odio es de labios mentirosos;

Y el que propaga calumnia es necio.

19 En las muchas palabras no falta pecado;

Mas el que refrena sus labios es prudente.

20 Plata escogida es la lengua del justo;

Mas el corazón de los impíos es como nada.

21 Los labios del justo apacientan a muchos,

Mas los necios mueren por falta de entendimiento.

22 La bendición de Jehová es la que enriquece,

Y no añade tristeza con ella.

23 El hacer maldad es como una diversión al insensato;

Mas la sabiduría recrea al hombre de entendimiento.

24 Lo que el impío teme, eso le vendrá;

Pero a los justos les será dado lo que desean.

25 Como pasa el torbellino, así el malo no permanece;

Mas el justo permanece para siempre.

26 Como el vinagre a los dientes, y como el humo a los ojos,

Así es el perezoso a los que lo envían.

27 El temor de Jehová aumentará los días;

Mas los años de los impíos serán acortados.

28 La esperanza de los justos es alegría;

Mas la esperanza de los impíos perecerá.

29 El camino de Jehová es fortaleza al perfecto;

Pero es destrucción a los que hacen maldad.

30 El justo no será removido jamás;

Pero los impíos no habitarán la tierra.

31 La boca del justo producirá sabiduría;

Mas la lengua perversa será cortada.

32 Los labios del justo saben hablar lo que agrada;

Mas la boca de los impíos habla perversidades.
